Dallas' diverse and robust restaurant scene stays fresh via the arrival of new, innovative eateries on the regular. Here's a look at 10 newcomers that scored well with DFW diners.

Opened in late 2013, Gemma brought a touch of Cali panache to Henderson Avenue, in a stretch of the city better known for casual bar/restaurants. Husband-wife owners Alison Yoder and Stephen Rogers have since regaled East Dallas with über-seasonal modern American fare, always keeping an eye toward highlighting great local providers. But this spot doesn't lack on beverage options either, Gemma has a lovely bar program, featuring wines on tap, including a buttery Texas-bred Vermentino.

Casa Rubia

Fans of Casa Rubia's executive chef Omar Flores have flocked religiously to his showplace of Spanish cuisine, making it one of the hot spots in Oak Cliff restaurant enclave Trinity Groves. In addition to highlighting outstanding shareable tapas and a stellar wine list, Casa Rubia boasts a lively bar scene where cheese boards, charcuterie and Spanish sherry flights draw snackers and tipplers alike. It's a great place to wait out weekend crowds.

El Come Taco

Tacos are a Dallas mainstay, and this East Dallas purveyor upped the storefront-taqueria game with a fun, modern look and feel that belie serious Mexican fare. Buzz surrounded the Fitzhugh Avenue spot well before its late fall opening in 2013, and soon after its opening, dishes ranging from oft-seen faves (pastor tacos fresh from the trompo) to less-common specialties (sesos — veal brain — and grasshopper tacos) kept foodies coming back for more.

Off Site Kitchen

Owner Nick Badovinus put an exclamation point on Dallas' craft burger conversation with this hot sandwich mecca. In addition to its one-, two- and four-patty cheeseburgers, OSK serves up hand-cut fries, old-school sodas and juices reminiscent of your childhood and sandwiches stuffed with roast chicken, smoked turkey, pork shoulder and brisket. Expect a line out the door at lunchtime, just hours ahead of its mid-afternoon closure.

American Food and Beverage

The farm-to-table movement that caught on fire in Dallas over the last few years ignited in Fort Worth with the January opening of this restaurant/bar led by Jeff Harris, bringing to West Seventh the same attention to scratch-made fare that he honed at Oak Cliff's Bolsa . Fort Worth diners have lapped up the brunch, lunch and dinner offerings showcasing all the fresh, local and conscientiously sourced ingredients Harris can find.

Monkey King Noodle Company

While it wasn't Deep Ellum's first ramen shop, rabid foodies seem to agree that MKNC is the best in the neighborhood, if not the city. A master noodle maker hand-spins the dough threads that form the heart of popular cups like the spicy beef noodle soup; soup dumplings and wontons round out the menu. Despite closing early most days, this tiny BYOB eatery packs its rooftop patio with weekday lunch crowds.

CBD Provisions

This modern Joule Hotel-adjacent space rode the city's craving for fresh, locally sourced cuisine to almost-instant success. Chef Michael Sindoni's pig head tacos singlehandedly caused a stir, and made local eaters just that much more adventurous, to see what all the buzz was about. A bespoke central bar churns out craft beers and a pleasing array of handcrafted cocktails; after-work people-watching can become sport here.
